This is the complete list: 84 capabilities across 11 jobs, with the plan each one needs. UpChannels is an all-in-one platform for small independent retailers and service businesses — garden, electronics, furniture and liquidation stores, appliance dealers and repair shops, and HVAC, plumbing, cleaning, lawn-care and handyman crews — sold as one subscription with a real team behind it.
If you are comparing systems, the section at the bottom is probably the most useful one on this page: it lists what UpChannels deliberately does not do. And if the system you are comparing against has a name, the comparison pages go head to head with Square for Retail, Lightspeed Retail and Jobber on their own published prices — and add up what the alternative stack costs a month.
Writing an order at the counter, on the phone, or on a job site — including the ones that are half deposit, half delivery, and half special order.
Write a sales order or a quote with line-item pricing, discounts, taxes and notes, and convert a quote to an order without re-entering it.
Track every order from written through fulfilled, with history of who changed what and when.
Take a deposit when the order is written and collect the balance later, at the counter or on the delivery truck.
Sell an item you do not have on the floor and tie the customer order to the purchase order that will fill it.
Sell a product with size, colour or configuration options, and sell several items together as one bundled package.
Attach a warranty or protection plan to a line item at the time of sale and keep it on the order record.
Record which salesperson wrote an order and report commission against recorded sales.
Accept a trade-in, issue store credit, and take gift cards and loyalty points as tender on an order.
Knowing what is in the building, what is promised to someone else, and what to buy next — for bulk stock and for units with their own serial numbers.
Keep one catalog of products and services with categories, brands, images, costs, prices and supplier references.
Follow an individual unit by its serial number from receiving through reserved, sold, delivered and — if it comes back — returned or scrapped.
Track on-hand, committed and available quantities per location for parts, accessories and anything you do not serialize.
Every movement in or out is written as a permanent ledger entry rather than an overwritten number, so a count can always be traced to the movements that produced it.
Run a one-click audit that compares recorded stock against the movement ledger, shows the drift, and posts correcting adjustments you approve.
Count a section of the floor, see the variance against the system, and record the reason before committing the correction.
Split a location into showroom, warehouse and named storage areas so a count says where the unit actually is.
Print price and barcode labels for products and serialized units from the same records the register reads.
Raise a purchase order to a supplier, receive it in full or in part, and have the received units land in stock with their costs.
See what has fallen below its reorder point and draft the purchase order from that list.
Keep supplier contacts, terms and the purchase history you have with each of them in one place.
Share availability with nearby businesses in the partner network to source a unit you do not have.
For businesses that also fix, install or maintain what they sell — and for the ones that only sell services.
Book a service appointment or a work order against a customer, with the job details, the technician and the time window on one record.
Define the services you sell with their duration, price and what they include, so booking one does not mean retyping it.
Record who is available when, and schedule against it rather than against a blank calendar.
Set a maintenance or treatment visit to repeat on a pattern and have the future visits generated from it.
Attach before, during, after, damage and completion photos to a job, each typed so you can find the right one later.
See what a customer bought, when, and every service visit since — on the same record.
Getting the thing to the customer, proving it arrived, and keeping stock honest when it does.
Put deliveries on a day, grouped by driver, on a board built for the person planning tomorrow.
Arrange a driver’s stops into an optimized order in one click rather than by dragging them around.
Send a driver a private link to their route by text — there is no driver app to install.
Capture signature, photos and notes at the door, including when the phone has no signal, and sync them when it returns.
Give the customer a link that shows where their delivery stands without them phoning the store.
Define the areas you deliver to and record haul-away of the old unit as part of the stop.
Let the customer pick their own delivery window from the slots you have actually left open.
Taking the money, recording which kind of money it was, and knowing it actually arrived.
Charge a Stripe smart reader at the counter and have the charge recorded against the order automatically.
Text or email a secure payment link for an open balance and watch it settle against the order.
Let a customer pay their own invoice from the portal without calling the store for a card number.
Record refunds and disputes against the original order and reconcile the processor payout that covers them.
Keep the card processor you already use — UpChannels takes no percentage of your card volume.
Record cash, check, every card brand, ACH, digital wallets, Zelle, Cash App, Venmo, PayPal, store credit, gift cards, trade-in credit, loyalty points and lease-to-own as distinct tenders rather than lumping them into "other".
The part most store software stops short of: proving the day balanced, and turning it into books an accountant will accept.
Close the day against a full tender breakdown, so the drawer, the card batch and the system sales are reconciled before anyone goes home.
Track a lease-to-own ticket from sold through delivered to funded, so you know which leases the provider has actually paid you for.
Keep the float as a ledger — opening amount, refills, removals — so over and short means something.
Close the month with cushion, distribution and settlement states recorded rather than worked out on paper.
Connect the business bank account, match deposits, payouts, refunds and expenses against the books, and close each statement period on a zero difference.
Match a supplier invoice against what you received and what you sold, and resolve the lines that disagree.
Set up rent, insurance and other repeating bills as templates that become the month’s actual bills.
Record and categorise business expenses against the account they belong to.
Post to a real chart of accounts with journal entries, so the numbers reconcile as books and not just as reports.
Produce a P&L and a balance sheet from the ledger, and print either to PDF.
Apply tax profiles and multiple tax rules per location rather than one flat rate for the whole business.
Every system records what sold. Recording what was asked for and not sold is what tells you what to buy next.
Record every visitor who came through the door, whether or not they bought anything.
Capture why a visitor left without buying — no stock, wrong size, price, delivery date, financing declined — as structured data you can total up.
Log a complaint with its details and carry it through to a recorded resolution instead of leaving it on a sticky note.
See the day’s sales, orders, stock position and outstanding work on one screen, per location.
Report on sales, inventory, customers, services and finance from the records themselves, filtered by date range in your store’s own time zone.
Group and pivot report data to answer a question the standard view does not.
Export report data as CSV for a spreadsheet or an accountant.
Keep a shared operational log of the day — door traffic, calls, notes — that builds into a trend rather than a pile of notebooks.
Reaching the customers you already have, and the ones who have not found you yet.
Keep one record per customer with contacts, addresses, consent, notes and every order they have ever placed.
Build a filter — spend band, last purchase, product bought, consent — and save it as a group a campaign can send to.
Read and answer customer texts in one inbox with that customer’s orders and jobs on screen beside the thread.
Send a targeted text campaign to a saved segment and see what it produced against recorded sales.
Send a text automatically when an order, a schedule or a customer record reaches a state you chose.
Read and reply to your Google Business Profile reviews inside UpChannels, and invite customers to review you after a finished order.
Run a points or rewards program off your own sales data rather than a separate loyalty app.
Compare advertising spend against the orders your own system recorded, not against clicks.
Watch what comparable businesses near you are listing and pricing.
Give every customer a link to their own order — status, appointments, payment, review request — branded to your store, with no account to create.
The staff week — hours, rota and pay — in the same system as the sales those hours produced.
Staff clock in and out, breaks are recorded separately, and paid hours are totalled from the punches rather than typed in.
Build the week’s rota and publish it to staff so everyone is looking at the same schedule.
Work out what each person is owed — rate, pay type, bonuses, advances, remaining pay — and export it. UpChannels is not a payroll provider and does not file payroll taxes.
Handle time-off requests and disagreements about recorded hours as threaded requests with a decision on the record.
Decide who can see and change what, per person, across every location.
Keep a record of who changed what, so a disputed edit has an answer.
Second location, second set of tax rules, same owner trying to see both at once.
Run each location with its own profile, stock, tax rules and staff, and report across all of them together.
Hold and count stock separately per location, and transfer units between them with the movement recorded.
Start from a prebuilt configuration for your business type rather than a blank system.
Change the menu and the quick actions so the screen matches how your business actually works.
The half of UpChannels that is not software. These are engagements with our team, priced separately from the subscription.
Our team builds your website on your own domain — a product storefront with checkout, a booking-first service site, or both — running on the same system as your counter.
Our team runs your Google Search, Shopping and Business Profile, measured against the sales your system recorded.
Our team builds and runs your Meta campaigns and your page, with retargeting built from your real customer records.
Our team keeps your pages posting and answering in your store’s voice, creative included.
Our team connects QuickBooks, your existing POS, payment gateways and supplier feeds so nothing is typed twice.
Our team maps how your store really runs and builds automation around its specific bottlenecks.
Every all-in-one platform has edges. These are ours, stated plainly so you find them here rather than three weeks into a trial. If one of these matters to you, say so on the call and we will tell you honestly whether we are the wrong fit.
UpChannels works out what each person is owed and exports it. It is not a payroll provider: it does not withhold or deposit payroll taxes, does not file 940s, 941s or W-2s, and does not move money to your employees. Keep your payroll provider or your bookkeeper for that.
There is a real double-entry ledger and real statements, but UpChannels does not replace your accountant and does not file your taxes. Most stores keep QuickBooks and their accountant, and connect them.
The system records hours, breaks, tax rules and consent so the record exists. It does not certify that your practices comply with federal, state or local law, and no software honestly can.
The walk-in log is recorded by your staff. There is no camera, no door sensor and no hardware counter — which is also why it can record WHY someone left, which a sensor cannot.
UpChannels records and reconciles lease-to-own tickets as tenders. It does not originate leases, underwrite customers, or fund you — that stays with Acima, Snap, Koalafi, Progressive or whoever you already work with.
Integrated card payments run on Stripe and carry Stripe’s processing fees plus a platform fee. You can also keep your own processor entirely, in which case UpChannels takes no percentage and records the payment without touching the money.
UpChannels runs in the browser, and the driver and delivery screens are built to work on a phone including offline. There is no separate app in the App Store or Play Store today.
There is no bill of materials, work-in-progress tracking or production scheduling. If you build what you sell from raw components, this is not the right system.
The website our team builds runs on your UpChannels catalog. There is no built-in sync to Amazon, eBay, Walmart or an existing Shopify storefront.
Automatic and semi-automatic answering is on the roadmap and is not shipped. The Communication Hub today is a unified inbox your people answer.
The product moves faster than this page. UpChannels ships updates most weeks, so a description here can lag what is already in the software. Where the two disagree, the running product is the current version — tell us if you find one and we will correct the page.
