Competitor Monitor

Stay ahead of
the competition

UpChannels finds the competing stores and contractors near you from Google Maps data, keeps them on one list your whole team shares, and opens the ads each one is running right now — Google, Facebook and Instagram — plus the search demand behind their name in your own metro area.

See what a competitor is advertising right now — without an ad account

Add a competitor once — by searching Google Maps for your trade and city, or by typing a name and domain — and each tab below opens that business inside a public ad library, already filtered to them. Competitor Monitor is part of every UpChannels plan, not a paid add-on.

🎯Google Ads Tracking

See every Google ad
a rival is running.

Track opens the Google Ads Transparency Center filtered to that competitor domain, so you see the creative Google holds for that advertiser, the formats they buy, and how recently each ad ran. The Transparency Center is public — UpChannels points it at the competitor you saved, so there is nothing to connect and no ad budget of your own required.

📱Facebook Ads Tracking

Read their Facebook and Instagram ads
while they are still live.

Track opens the Meta Ads Library on that competitor domain with the filter set to ads that are active at that moment. You get the creative, the copy, and how many variations they are testing across Facebook and Instagram — the information Meta publishes about every advertiser — without a Facebook ad account of your own.

📈Google Search Trends

See who is searching for them
in your metro area.

Every competitor gets two buttons: one opens Google Trends for their business name filtered to your own region, the other opens the same chart for the whole country. UpChannels reads that region from your browser location — a metro area where Google has one for your city, your state otherwise. Comparing the two says whether a rival spike is a promotion down the road or a season everyone is in.

Common questions

Competitor questions, answered

Do I need a Google Ads or Facebook account to use Competitor Monitor?
No. All three sources are public — the Google Ads Transparency Center, the Meta Ads Library and Google Trends — and UpChannels opens each one already filtered to the competitor you saved, so there is no account to link and no API key to paste. Connecting your own Google Ads account is a separate thing, and it powers Ads Insights, where you track what your own advertising is doing.
How do I find out who my local competitors actually are?
Use the Search and Discover tab: type your trade — bike shop, plumbing contractor, furniture outlet — plus a city, and UpChannels returns up to 12 nearby businesses from Google Maps data with address, phone, website, star rating, review count and whether they are open right now. Your browser location prefills the city, so most owners only type the trade. Adding one to monitoring saves its name and domain and keeps the address, phone and rating in the note.
Does Competitor Monitor track competitor prices?
No. It does not scrape prices or product catalogs, and nothing in the tool compares your price to theirs. What it shows is advertising and demand: the ads a competitor is actively running, the search interest behind their name, and the public Google Maps profile including rating and review count. Their website opens in one click from any card if you want to check a price yourself.
Will UpChannels alert me when a competitor launches a new ad?
Not today. Competitor Monitor stores your list — names, domains, keywords and your own notes — but it does not archive competitors' ads or watch them for changes, so there is no alert to switch on. Each Track button opens the public library live at the moment you click, which means what you see is current rather than a stale copy. The workflow the tool is built around is a weekly pass down the list, which takes a few minutes.
Can everyone at my store see the same competitor list?
Yes. The list belongs to the business rather than to the person who created it, so anyone signed in to your UpChannels account sees the same competitors and the same notes. A competitor added from Search and Discover appears immediately in the Google Ads, Facebook and Search Trends tabs, and editing a note in any of those tabs updates the one shared record.
Can I see search interest just for my town instead of the whole country?
Yes, for search trends. Each competitor has two buttons — one opens Google Trends filtered to your metro area, or your state where Google has no metro for your city, and the other opens the same chart nationwide — and UpChannels sets that region from your browser location. The two ad libraries open at the country level, and you narrow further with the filters inside them.
Is Competitor Monitor a paid add-on?
No. It is included in every UpChannels plan — Basic, Pro and Premium — at no extra cost, and the 14-day free trial takes no credit card. The paid add-ons are Bank Reconciliation and card payments; competitor monitoring is not one of them. See plans and pricing.

Competitor Monitor is one part of UpChannels

Competitor Monitor is the market-research tab inside UpChannels, the all-in-one platform for small retailers and service businesses — electronics, clothing and liquidation stores, HVAC, plumbing and lawn-care companies. It finds competing businesses near you from Google Maps data by trade and city, keeps them on one list your whole team shares, and opens each one's live advertising: the Google Ads Transparency Center for the ads Google holds on them, the Meta Ads Library for the Facebook and Instagram ads running right now, and Google Trends for search interest in your own metro area. It is included in every UpChannels plan rather than sold as an add-on.

UpChannels is an all-in-one platform for small retailers and service businesses — sales, inventory, customers, scheduling, delivery, payments and finance in one system — and a real team that builds your website, runs your ads, and automates the busywork. Every capability below is included in the same subscription, with no integration to wire up between them.

The product moves faster than this page. UpChannels ships updates most weeks, so a description here can lag what is already in the software. Where the two disagree, the running product is the current version — tell us if you find one and we will correct the page.
