UpChannels
Business Reports

Understand performance
with clear reports

UpChannels ships seven reports with the software — sales, inventory, services, expenses, Profit & Loss, balance sheet and a daily journal. Each one reads the orders, stock movements and expenses your staff already recorded, so a small retailer or service business can close out the month without first assembling a spreadsheet.

Inside the reports

Seven reports, built from the orders you already wrote

Nothing here is imported, re-keyed or estimated. UpChannels builds every report from the records your store creates during the day — orders, stock movements, service assignments, expenses and journal entries — and each report states the basis it was computed on, down to the date range printed in every comparison column.

Sales performance
and trends.

Six numbers on one screen for any date range you pick: revenue, orders, average order value, unique customers, conversion rate and return rate — plus a trend line, a category mix, and ranked lists of your top products and top services.

Four columns side by side — the range you picked, the previous month, year to date, and the same period last year — each header printing the dates it actually covers, so a part-month is never mistaken for a full one.

Pick any of the last 24 month-ends and see assets, liabilities and equity against the previous month-end and the same month a year earlier. A Balance check line prints the Assets − Liabilities − Equity residual rather than quietly plugging it into a total.

Which report answers which question

Sales, inventory and services are the three an owner opens weekly: what did we sell, what is sitting on the floor, and how did the crew do. Every one of them opens on a Demo view filled with sample data, so a new store can see the layout and the definitions before its own numbers exist.

Common questions

Reporting questions, answered

What reports come with UpChannels?
Seven: sales, inventory, services, expenses, profit & loss, balance sheet (assets & liabilities), and a daily journal of what happened each day. Each one has its own date filter, on-screen charts, and a Demo view filled with sample data so you can read the layout before your own numbers are in. A guide page inside the app explains, report by report, what every number counts.
Why is the revenue on my sales report lower than the total of all my orders?
Because only realized sales count. UpChannels totals orders of type SALE that reached Completed, Delivered or Shipped — quotes, drafts, cancelled orders and procurement orders are excluded — and revenue is counted net of sales tax, so it also reads lower than a gross figure that includes tax. On the profit & loss report you can tick "Subtract returns/refunds" to net out returns and refunded sales as well.
Can I export a report to send to my accountant?
Yes, with one plan caveat. The expenses report exports the rows you currently have filtered on screen to CSV, and the profit & loss and balance sheet export to CSV or a print-ready PDF on your store's letterhead. Export on those two finance reports is a Premium-plan feature, and it works on any plan during the 14-day free trial — see what each plan includes.
Can I compare this month against last month and against last year?
Yes. The profit & loss report shows four columns side by side — the range you selected, the previous month, year to date, and the same period a year ago — and each column header prints the actual dates it covers, so a part-month is never read as a full one. The balance sheet compares the month-end you pick with the previous month-end and the same month-end a year earlier.
Is the profit & loss accrual accounting, and does it do my taxes?
No to both, and the report says so on its face. UpChannels recognizes sales by order date and expenses by transaction date — a transaction-date, cash-flow basis rather than accrual — and the bottom line is labeled Net Income (Pre-Tax). It gives your accountant the pre-tax income and deductible spend they ask for; it does not prepare or file a tax return, and automated income-tax prep is not available yet.
What happens if my balance sheet doesn't balance?
It tells you, in dollars, instead of hiding it. The balance sheet is built from the ledger accounts and journal entries you set up under Finance, and it prints a "Balance check (Assets − Liabilities − Equity)" line; when that residual is not zero the page says how far out of balance it is rather than plugging the difference into a total. Day-to-day orders do not post journal lines on their own, so the usual fix is an opening balance or a journal entry for something the ledger was never told about.
Can UpChannels forecast next month for me?
No. The reports describe what was actually recorded — there is no forecasting model, and an invented number is worse than no number. What you do get instead is context: where an industry pack ships with numeric targets — appliance retail today — the dashboard scores your conversion rate, average order value, gross margin, inventory turnover and repeat-customer rate against best-practice targets for that industry, so you can see where you stand rather than where a model guesses you will be. A furniture or bike shop, an HVAC or plumbing crew, a jeweler or a lawn-care outfit is scored on the practices in place instead.

Comprehensive Reports is one part of UpChannels

UpChannels gives small retailers and service businesses seven built-in reports — sales, inventory, services, expenses, profit & loss, balance sheet and a daily journal — each one built from the orders, stock movements and expenses the store already recorded, with no import step and no separate analytics tool. The profit & loss puts the selected range, the previous month, year to date and the previous year in four labeled columns, and the finance reports download as CSV or a print-ready PDF on your letterhead. Nothing is forecast or estimated: every report states the basis it was computed on, down to which order statuses counted as revenue.

UpChannels is an all-in-one platform for small retailers and service businesses — sales, inventory, customers, scheduling, delivery, payments and finance in one system — and a real team that builds your website, runs your ads, and automates the busywork. Every capability below is included in the same subscription, with no integration to wire up between them.

The product moves faster than this page. UpChannels ships updates most weeks, so a description here can lag what is already in the software. Where the two disagree, the running product is the current version — tell us if you find one and we will correct the page.
