Secure Share Links

Share a link,
skip the phone tag.

Staff open the order, hit “Portal link…”, and copy the link or text it straight to the customer. Each order gets its own expiring, cryptographically signed link — no customer accounts, passwords, or order numbers to remember.

Expiring signed links: 60-day default, extendable up to 90
Copy or text in one step: SMS consent and quota enforced automatically
Graceful failures: tampered or expired links show a polite explanation page
Owner-controlled: one toggle in Settings turns the portal on or off — old links come back to life when re-enabled

Payments & Requests

Get paid online,
hear about changes early.

When there’s an open balance, customers see an itemized invoice card and a “Pay” button that opens Stripe-hosted checkout for the remaining balance. Amounts are computed server-side, and payments reconcile back into the order automatically. Need a different day? A quick change request lands right on the order’s staff notes.

Itemized invoice card: subtotal, discount, tax, payments made, and balance due
Stripe-hosted checkout: pays the full open balance and reflects as paid in the portal
One-tap change requests: a short message to staff, rate-limited to 3 per day per order
Printable receipt: the same itemized invoice renderer used across the platform

Notifications & Reviews

Updates send themselves.
Reviews follow.

Owner-toggleable automatic emails — with opt-in SMS — send the portal link at key moments: payment received, appointment scheduled, a day-before reminder in your store’s own timezone, and order completed. After completion, send a review request that always ends with a “Review us on Google” button.

At most once per event: a background sweep deduplicates sends so customers aren’t double-texted
SMS done right: always respects customer consent and your plan’s SMS quota
Review requests: one click from the order, or opt-in automation with up to 2 gentle reminders
Never rating-gated: every customer sees the Google button — submissions and clicks tracked on your Reviews page

Common questions

Customer portal questions, answered

Do my customers need an account or a password to see their order?
No. Each order gets its own signed link that opens straight to that order — no account to create, no password, no order number to type in. The link carries its own expiry: 60 days by default and never longer than 90. A link only ever opens the one order it was issued for, so a forwarded message cannot expose anybody else’s order.
Is the Customer Portal included in my plan?
On Pro and Premium, yes; Basic does not include it. The store owner controls it with a single toggle in Settings and can share any order from that moment. See plans and pricing for what each plan includes — a Basic store can upgrade at any time.
Can a customer pay their balance from the portal?
Yes, if your store also has the Stripe payments add-on and has finished Stripe onboarding. The Pay button opens Stripe-hosted checkout for the full open balance, computed on the server — the portal never accepts a customer-supplied amount, so partial payments are still taken by your staff at the counter or over the phone. The money settles into your own connected Stripe account, and the payment posts back onto the order once Stripe confirms it.
Can customers pick their own delivery date?
Yes, once you switch self-scheduling on in your Delivery and Routes settings — it is off by default. The portal only ever offers windows your own settings allow: your delivery days, your time windows, your lead time, your per-day capacity and your blackout dates, all in your store’s timezone. Capacity is re-checked at the moment the customer books, so two people cannot take the same last slot, and you can have the portal invite a customer to book as soon as every item on the order is in stock.
What happens when a customer asks to move their delivery day?
The request goes to your staff, not to your calendar. “Request a change” writes the customer’s message onto that order’s notes where your team already works, limited to three requests per order per day, and nothing on the schedule moves until somebody at the store moves it. If you would rather customers rebook themselves without a phone call, turn on self-scheduling instead.
Will the portal text my customers automatically?
Only if you switch texting on, and only for customers who have given SMS consent. Out of the box the portal emails the link at four moments — payment received, appointment scheduled, the day before the appointment in your store’s timezone, and order completed — and each event sends at most once. SMS is a separate toggle that checks the customer’s consent and your plan’s monthly message allowance before anything goes out, and the review request stays off until you turn it on.
What happens when a portal link expires, or I turn the portal off?
The customer sees a short page saying the link is no longer valid and to contact the store — not an error screen, and never somebody else’s order. Your staff can issue a fresh link from the order at any time. Turning the store’s portal toggle off closes every existing link at once, and turning it back on makes those same links work again until their own expiry date.

Customer Portal is one part of UpChannels

The UpChannels Customer Portal gives every order its own secure, login-free web page, so a small retailer’s or service business’s customers can track order status, see their scheduled appointment, read an itemized invoice and pay the remaining balance without calling the store. Staff send the link straight from the order — copy it or text it — and it expires on its own after 60 days. It is included with Pro and Premium, and the owner turns it on or off with a single toggle.

UpChannels is an all-in-one platform for small retailers and service businesses — sales, inventory, customers, scheduling, delivery, payments and finance in one system — and a real team that builds your website, runs your ads, and automates the busywork. Every capability below is included in the same subscription, with no integration to wire up between them.

The product moves faster than this page. UpChannels ships updates most weeks, so a description here can lag what is already in the software. Where the two disagree, the running product is the current version — tell us if you find one and we will correct the page.
