Secure Connection

Connect the bank without
handing over your password.

Owners connect a business bank account through Plaid Link, right from Settings → Integrations. Your bank credentials stay with your bank and Plaid — UpChannels never sees them, and access tokens are locked server-side, never reaching the browser.

Credentials stay with the bank — Plaid handles sign-in; UpChannels never sees a password
Multiple banks and accounts — mark each as Primary (reconciled), Excluded, or Unassigned
Role-aware control — closing periods, disconnecting, and scope changes are owner-only

Automatic Import

Up to 24 months of history,
then every new line as it posts.

Your bank's transaction feed is mirrored into UpChannels: up to 24 months of history on first connect, then continuous updates driven by bank webhooks with a scheduled backstop sync every 6 hours. Built for how bank feeds actually behave.

Handles pending-to-posted transitions and removed transactions
Flags suspected duplicates before they distort your books
Understands batched card payouts net of fees, lumped cash deposits, and refunds as outflows
Record bank-only lines to the books on the spot — Expense, Income, or Transfer
Match & Close

The month closes only when
the difference is zero.

A matching engine proposes links between each bank line and the payments, refunds, and expenses already in your books, each with a confidence score. Then close the statement period against the balances from your actual bank statement — the statement, not the app, is the anchor.

Exact-amount, high-confidence matches confirm automatically — and are always reversible
Fee-bearing payouts route through an explicit Processor fee step — nothing is silently written off
Zero-difference gate at close; small differences (up to $10.00) require a written reason and post an audited write-off
Exact-cents math, an append-only audit trail, and locked closed periods with dated reversing entries

Common questions

Bank reconciliation questions, answered

Is bank reconciliation included in my UpChannels plan?
No — Bank Reconciliation is an optional add-on rather than part of the standard Basic, Pro, or Premium subscription, so it has to be enabled for your store before the reconciliation workspace opens. It is listed on the pricing page as a contact-sales add-on, alongside integrated card payments. Nothing else in your plan depends on it.
Which banks can I connect?
Any US bank or credit union that Plaid supports. You pick your institution and sign in inside Plaid Link — the same connection flow used by consumer budgeting apps — and UpChannels mirrors the transaction feed from there. If Plaid does not support your institution there is no statement-file upload to fall back on today, so check your bank before you buy the add-on.
Does UpChannels ever see my bank username and password?
No. Sign-in happens inside Plaid Link, so your credentials go to Plaid and your bank and never pass through UpChannels. The access token that lets us read transactions is held server-side and never reaches the browser, and connecting, reconnecting, or disconnecting a bank is restricted to the store owner.
Can I reconcile more than one bank account?
You can connect several banks and several accounts, but one account per store is marked Primary and that is the one being reconciled. Mark the others Excluded so a savings or personal account never mixes into the matching, or leave them Unassigned until you decide. If you genuinely balance two operating checking accounts separately, that is a real limitation to weigh before you buy.
What happens if the statement doesn't balance at the end of the month?
The period stays open. You type the start and end balances from your actual bank statement, UpChannels shows what has cleared against them, and the close button unlocks at a difference of zero. A difference of $10.00 or less can be closed with a written reason, which posts an audited write-off entry to the books — anything larger stays open until you find it, and nothing is ever silently rounded away.
Does it handle card payouts that arrive net of processor fees?
Yes. When one deposit covers several card payments, the matcher proposes the whole group as a batch payout and surfaces the fee as its own explicit step rather than absorbing the gap. Fee-bearing matches are never auto-confirmed — you either link the fee expense you already recorded or post it — so a human always decides where the fee lands.
Can I undo a match after I've closed the month?
Yes. Matches are reversible, including inside a closed period: unmatching there posts a dated reversing entry instead of deleting anything, reopens the period, and writes an audit row naming who did it and why. Closes, reopens, and write-offs are all append-only, so a number from two quarters ago can still be explained.

Bank Reconciliation is one part of UpChannels

UpChannels Bank Reconciliation connects a small retailer's or service business's bank account through Plaid, imports up to 24 months of history, and matches every deposit, card payout, refund, and expense against the payments and expenses already recorded in the same system. Each statement period is closed against the balances printed on the real bank statement, and it will not close until the difference is zero — or, for a difference of $10.00 or less, until an owner writes down the reason and an audited write-off posts to the books. Bank Reconciliation is an optional add-on rather than part of the standard UpChannels subscription.

UpChannels is an all-in-one platform for small retailers and service businesses — sales, inventory, customers, scheduling, delivery, payments and finance in one system — and a real team that builds your website, runs your ads, and automates the busywork. Every capability below is included in the same subscription, with no integration to wire up between them.

The product moves faster than this page. UpChannels ships updates most weeks, so a description here can lag what is already in the software. Where the two disagree, the running product is the current version — tell us if you find one and we will correct the page.
