UpChannels
βš™οΈAdministration

Decide who can do what
in your store.

UpChannels gives everyone on your team their own login, and gives the owner one place to decide what each person sees β€” along with the locations, tax profiles, vendors and business-type presets a small retail or service business runs on.

Team & settings

One owner account, and a login for everyone else

πŸ‘₯User Management

Give every person
their own login.

Every order, stock count, time entry and job photo records who wrote it, so the shared counter login can stop being a habit. The owner creates each account, gives it a default location, and picks which menu items that person sees.

Who is allowed to delete

Deleting records is restricted to owners, admins and managers, and the rule is enforced in the database rather than hidden in the interface.

Five roles to assign
Staff create and edit, never delete
Settings and billing are owner-only
πŸ’»Terminals

Card readers, paired to a location

Register a card reader against the store it sits in, so an in-person charge lands on the right location. Card payments are a paid add-on, switched on per store.

Readers registered per location
In-person charges and payment links
Payouts and disputes on file
🀝Vendors

Suppliers and their terms

Every supplier on file with contacts, terms and a preferred flag, then attached to the products you actually buy from them.

Contacts, address and business terms
Preferred and active flags
Vendor SKU, cost and lead time per product
πŸ“‹Tax Profiles

One rate, built from your rules

A tax profile holds as many rules as your jurisdiction needs β€” state, county, city β€” and the active ones are summed into the rate an order charges.

Multiple rules per profile
The rate follows the order's location
Tax-exempt customers flagged on the record
🏒Organizations

Every location under one organization

One store or several, each with its own address, phone, Google review link and tax profile, all sharing a single catalog and customer list.

Store, warehouse, office, distribution, service
A default location per user
Close a location without losing its history
🏭Industry Profiles

Start from your business type

Pick HVAC, plumbing, lawn care, furniture, liquidation, appliance or one of the other prebuilt profiles and the defaults load with it, instead of starting from an empty system.

Twelve prebuilt business types
A general profile for anything else
Every default editable afterwards
πŸ“¦Products Administration

One catalog behind every screen

The counter, the purchase order and the reports all read the same product record, so a price or a category is changed in one place and is right everywhere.

CSV import and export
Pricing rules and bulk price updates
Categories, brands and vendor links
πŸ‘€Customer Administration

Customer records carry their own terms

A customer is more than a phone number: the record holds whether they are a business or a walk-in, what tier they buy at, and whether they are tax exempt.

Customer tiers
Tax-exempt status with certificate details
Common questions

Team and permission questions, answered

How many logins do I get, and what does it cost to add someone?
Each store plan includes two users, and additional people are added in packs of five, each pack a flat monthly charge on top of the plan. Everyone gets their own email and password rather than sharing one counter login, which is what makes the attribution on orders, counts and time entries mean anything. Current plan prices and the price of a user pack are on the pricing page, and the 14-day free trial needs no credit card.
Can I stop a salesperson from seeing my costs?
Partly β€” and the limit is worth knowing before you buy. You can hide any menu item from any individual user, so Finance, Reports or Procurement simply do not appear in their sidebar, and settings, billing, card payments and team management are owner-only screens nobody else can open. What UpChannels does not have yet is field-level permission: inside a screen a person can reach, they see that screen for the whole organization.
What roles can I give someone?
Owner, admin, manager, staff and technician. The boundary the database itself enforces is deletion β€” only owners, admins and managers can delete, so a staff or technician account can create and edit but cannot erase an order, a customer or a stock movement. Beyond that, what a person works in day to day is shaped by which menu items you leave visible for them.
What happens to an employee's records when they quit?
Nothing is erased. Removing someone from the team list switches their account inactive rather than deleting the person, so the orders they wrote, the time entries they logged and the delivery photos they took stay attributed to them and keep reporting exactly as before. The one account that cannot be removed is the owner β€” turn the owner switch off first if you are handing the business to someone else.
What has to be set up before I can write my first order?
Three things: one active location, one active tax profile with at least one rule in it, and at least one product or service to sell. Until those exist UpChannels keeps the setup checklist in front of you instead of letting screens half-work, and the checklist lifts on its own the moment the last one is done. Choosing your business type during setup loads that industry’s defaults so you are not configuring an empty system from scratch.
Can I simplify the app for someone who only does deliveries?
Yes. Menu visibility is set per user, so a driver can sign in to a sidebar holding only the screens they use, and the quick-action shortcuts page follows the same settings. Owners always see everything, so the switches are disabled on an owner account, and any user can be reset back to the full default menu in one click.
Can UpChannels staff see inside my account?
Only support staff, only read-only, and only with a record. A support view never signs in as you β€” no password reset, no session minted as your user β€” it opens the normal screens against your data with writes blocked at both the database client and the API layer. The staff account, your store and the time are written to an audit log before the view opens, and the session expires after an hour.

Admin & User Management is one part of UpChannels

UpChannels gives a small retail or service business one owner account that controls the settings the whole store runs on β€” team logins, locations, tax profiles, vendors, card readers and the industry preset the account starts from. Each person signs in as themselves under one of five roles (owner, admin, manager, staff, technician), the owner decides which menu items each of them sees, and deleting records is restricted at the database level to owners, admins and managers. Nobody is erased: a departing employee's account is switched inactive, so the orders, counts and job photos they recorded stay attributed to them.

UpChannels is an all-in-one platform for small retailers and service businesses β€” sales, inventory, customers, scheduling, delivery, payments and finance in one system β€” and a real team that builds your website, runs your ads, and automates the busywork. Every capability below is included in the same subscription, with no integration to wire up between them.

The product moves faster than this page. UpChannels ships updates most weeks, so a description here can lag what is already in the software. Where the two disagree, the running product is the current version β€” tell us if you find one and we will correct the page.
