The UpChannels Register is the counter screen for the sale that walks out of the door today: one scan box, as many tenders as the sale takes, and a receipt on an 80 mm printer, letter paper or email, or by text on Pro and Premium. Returns and exchanges start from the barcode on the receipt.
What the cashier sees on Sales → Register, on every plan.
A barcode scanner types the code and presses Enter: an exact barcode, SKU or serial adds the line at once, and scanning it again adds one more. A serial adds that very unit at its own tag price. Typing searches instead, and a search that finds nothing offers to log the lost sale.
Cash offers Exact and the next bills up, and shows the change in large type. A card goes on the reader when your store takes cards through UpChannels, a paid add-on, or is recorded from your own machine. A lease-to-own tender from Snap, Acima, Progressive, Koalafi, American First, Katapult or FlexShopper is recorded as awaiting funding, and anything still to pay can be left due on the order.
Every receipt and invoice prints the sale’s barcode, so a return starts with one scan — or with the order or invoice number, or the customer’s sales of the last 12 months. Tick the lines and the serials coming back, check each line’s condition, and print an 80 mm return receipt when it is done.
Set the return up, press Exchange instead, and the counter becomes the new sale for the same customer, with the value coming back as exchange credit. A $1,189.67 washer (10% fee: $109.90) exchanged for one at $973.17 keeps a fee of $20.00 and refunds $196.50. Complete exchange saves both sides together, or nothing.
With Discount limits on in Settings → Team, an item marked down past the cashier’s limit opens a panel above the payment instead of completing the sale. A manager types their PIN on the same screen, or the request goes to the owner and managers in the app, by email and by text where the store texts, with a link that answers in one tap without signing in. While your store pays commission, Split with shares the sale with up to two more people.
The Register's header shows the drawer open at its location, and every tender it records is counted in that drawer, so the expected cash moves by exactly what the till took. With no drawer open, the first cash sale of the day asks once: open the drawer, or sell without one and leave the sale for the next close. Sales parked and never finished are offered to Lost Sales at the close, as walk-ins who did not buy.
The UpChannels Register is the counter point-of-sale screen for small retailers and service businesses, on every plan: one scan box for barcodes, SKUs, serial numbers, appliance box model barcodes and GS1 QR codes; quick keys; walk-in sales with no customer; cash, card, check, lease-to-own, loyalty points and store credit on one sale; hold for pickup and parked sales; receipts on an 80 mm printer, letter paper or email, and by text on Pro and Premium; and returns and exchanges found by the receipt's barcode, with restocking fees, refunds to store credit and a manager's yes where the store asks for one. Every tender it takes is counted in the drawer that Cash Close counts at the end of the day.
UpChannels is an all-in-one platform for small retailers and service businesses — sales, inventory, customers, scheduling, delivery, payments and finance in one system — and a real team that builds your website, runs your ads, and automates the busywork. The parts below share one set of records, so there is no integration to wire up between them; the pricing page shows which plan includes each one.
The product moves faster than this page. UpChannels ships updates most weeks, so a description here can lag what is already in the software. Where the two disagree, the running product is the current version — tell us if you find one and we will correct the page.
