Price Tags

A truckload tagged
in one print run.

UpChannels lets small retailers pick what came in by category or by purchase order, set prices in one reviewed batch, and print a whole set of branded showroom or shelf tags — store logo, big price, MSRP struck through and a barcode that scans at the register.

How it works

Four steps from the delivery to the floor

Price Tags sits in the Inventory menu beside Labels, and follows the same select, configure, print flow.

Step 1

Choose the items

Pick a location, then group what is on hand by category or by the purchase order it came in on — one tick on a group header selects the whole truckload. Filter by brand, category, a search or “received in the last N days”, and the selection survives every filter change.

One tag per product, shared by identical units
Its own tag for a unit with its own price, condition or grade
Cost and margin columns for owners and managers only
Step 2

Set prices, if you want to

Optional, and for owners and managers. Propose new prices for the rows you tick — a percentage of MSRP, cost plus a markup, a target margin, a fixed price or a nudge up or down — rounded to .99, .95 or whole dollars. Nothing is saved until you have seen every old and new price and confirmed.

The percentage box starts empty; nothing is assumed
“Only rows without a price” for the safe version
Undo the whole batch for 24 hours
Step 3

Design the tag

Start from a preset and choose what goes on it: your store logo, the brand, name, model, key specs or description lines, dimensions, the price, the MSRP struck through beside it and what the customer saves. Add service chips such as Delivery or Installation, a footer line and your accent colour.

Save a design as the store’s default template
Step 4

Preview and print

Every sheet is previewed from the same page that goes to the printer, so the preview and the paper cannot differ. Print, or save as a PDF from the browser’s print dialog, or open the sheets as a printable page in their own tab.

The price on the tag

The tag says what the register will charge

A tag is only useful if the customer pays what it says. Price Tags reads the price from the same place checkout does, and a scratch-and-dent unit with its own price gets its own tag — and rings up at that price when it is picked at checkout. The barcode is the serial for a tracked unit or the SKU for everything else, so a tag scans at the register and during a count.

Every row is checked before it prints, and the warnings say what is wrong in plain words:

No price
Left out of the print and listed, never given a made-up price.
Below cost
The price is under what the item cost you.
Above MSRP
The price is over the manufacturer’s suggested price.
Pricing rule
An active pricing rule means the register may charge less than this tag.
Old price
The price has changed since this item’s tag was last printed.
Batch prices

A price change you can see before it happens, and take back after.

Setting prices in bulk is the riskiest thing a price tool does, so it is the most careful step. The diff shows every old and new price with the margin before and after, and flags anything that lands below cost. The confirm dialog names the biggest changes, reminds you when product prices apply at every location, and archived products are refused rather than repriced.

If someone edits a price between your preview and your save, that row is refused instead of overwritten. Every change is written down with who made it, and the whole batch can be undone for 24 hours — restoring only the prices nobody has changed since.

Who can do what

What Price Tags is not

It prints paper tags from your own printer; it does not drive electronic shelf labels. Pricing rules that apply at checkout are flagged on the tag list, not printed on the tag, and a financing line is text you write for the template — UpChannels does no financing maths. For small barcode labels on Avery sheets, the Labels page in Inventory is still the place.

Common questions

Price tag questions, answered

Can I print tags for everything on one purchase order?
Yes. Group the list by purchase order and tick the order’s header row: every item that came in on it is selected, and the group shows how many are still in the store. Stock received without a purchase order sits in its own group at the bottom, and stock transferred in from another location is labelled with the order and the location that received it.
What happens to items that have no price?
They are flagged “No price”, left out of the print and listed so nothing goes on the floor with a blank or a guessed price. An owner or manager can fill them in the price step, for example at a percentage of MSRP — the box starts empty, so nothing is ever assumed.
Does a scratch-and-dent unit get its own tag?
Yes. A tracked unit gets its own tag when it has its own price, a condition other than new, or a grade, so it can show its condition and serial; ten identical new units share one product tag. A “One tag per unit” switch prints a tag for every tracked unit instead.
Can staff change prices from the tag screen?
No. Staff can choose items, adjust a design for their own print and print, but setting prices in a batch is for owners and managers, and the check is made on the server, not only on the screen. Staff see the price step with an explanation instead of the controls.
Can I undo a batch price change?
For 24 hours, yes. Undo restores each price the batch changed, except where someone has changed that price again since — those are skipped rather than overwritten. Every change, including the undo, is recorded with who made it.
Can I put my logo on the tags?
Yes, the store logo from Settings is on by default. Without a logo the tag prints the store name, with a link to add the logo. Brand logos print where the brand has one on file, and fall back to the brand name.
What does it cost?
Price Tags is included in every plan, with no add-on. It prints on your own printer, on plain letter paper for showroom tags or on the Avery sheets listed above.

Price Tags is one part of UpChannels

UpChannels Price Tags lets a small retailer choose items by category or by the purchase order they arrived on, optionally set their prices in one batch that owners and managers preview, confirm and can undo for 24 hours, and print a whole set of branded tags in one go: showroom tags two to a letter page, or shelf cards, strips and small tags on Avery sheets. Tags carry the store logo, the price the register charges, the MSRP struck through, what the customer saves and a barcode of the SKU or serial. Items with no price are left out rather than guessed, scratch-and-dent units get their own tag, and every print is logged. It is included in every plan.

UpChannels is an all-in-one platform for small retailers and service businesses — sales, inventory, customers, scheduling, delivery, payments and finance in one system — and a real team that builds your website, runs your ads, and automates the busywork. Every capability below is included in the same subscription, with no integration to wire up between them.

The product moves faster than this page. UpChannels ships updates most weeks, so a description here can lag what is already in the software. Where the two disagree, the running product is the current version — tell us if you find one and we will correct the page.
